TO DECONDITION

conditioning:

/kənˈdiSHəniNG/

  • pressure, expectations or influences from outside sources that are used by the mind to conform to patterns that are not part of who we are

  • any adaptive strategies which become habits and take us away, repress, or conceal our true self and our purpose for incarnating.

This is essentially the Not Self, Shadows, low vibrations, limiting beliefs and/or default settings, which do not serve our highest good and need to be released, integrated and/or transmuted to their gift frequency.

I invite you to utilize this course in whatever way serves you to get the most value. I would read through it a few times to begin and see what jumps out at you. Maybe you know exactly what you want to dive into or you visit a piece of it everyday working your way through. If you identify some conditioning that you want to work with pretty quickly you could focus on talking them though Daily Deconditioning every day and answering the prompts around them to dive deeper. Maybe you’re really looking forward to exploring potential Shadows + Not Self through your design. It is here for you to come back to again and again (taking manageable bites) to uncover new layers. Healing isn’t linear. We move through like a spiral, often circling back around to revisit healing on a deeper level. Leveling up again and again.

If you’d like to inject some whimsy + daily guidance. Here is a 30 day Deck. You can print the pages and cut them into cards; fold them and put them in a bowl, and then draw a card each day to tell you what to focus on. This can also be fun after you’ve already gone through the workshop and you want to go back through again to peel back another layer. You may find yourself focusing on something new as a result.

“I hereby break all contracts I made unconsciously & consciously before I knew the depth of my own Spirit; the silent ones, the ones I inherited, passed down & accepted as my own from generation to generation.

I hereby sever all ties with that which holds me down & back, unable to see the glimmer of what I know to be true, whether by my own creation or by expectations tied like weights around my ankles by others lost in the sea of their own confused hearts.

I hereby reclaim my right to choose how my story unfolds, armed with creativity, a heart made of gold & reverent humility.

I hereby fully accept all of this living & what-is-yet-to-come with brash integrity & loving determination.

I hereby swear to use my superpowers for the love of all beings & I return anything that no longer serves my Higher & Lower Self (& the ones Caught-in-Between) with gratitude & consciousness.

I do this all with love, from the great source of it found in my very own beating heart.”

TAKE CARE OF YOU

Deconditioning and facing Shadows is not easy and it means sometimes facing fragile parts of ourselves as well as painful memories, though reliving or even remembering is not often necessary with many of these (my favorite) tools. But we are confronting low vibrations and aspects of ourselves that may be stuck, conditioned, challenging, negative… shining a light on the parts of ourself we’ve kept hidden. So first and foremost, when doing this work, take care of you. The tools can result in detox effects as you confront some things that may feel triggering and allow old set points to unravel and transmute.

Create a safe container for your spelunking. Prioritize your self stewardship and well being. Take next level care of yourself. And let those in your life know this may be a time when you require a bit more gentleness. Get out into nature; feel the sun on your face and get your feet on the ground. Get a massage, take hot epsom baths at night and/or visit a spa. DRINK LOTS of clean spring water. Eat nourishing whole foods. Breathe, get plenty of sleep, and move, do some physical unraveling in SPC. You are calling old stuck ways up to the surface. Move through any stagnation. Take easy walks, dance to your favorite music, bounce on a rebounder. If you’re feeling pent up or having some intense emotions come through you can bring them through your next Breathwork, take a tea towel to a hard surface to get the good “fwap”, do some boxing, chop some wood, lift weights. Channel your emotions through rather than swallowing them back down.

Think of it as a time to really support yourself. Pay attention to what you’re digesting in your environment and through media. Dry brush. Do an Abhyanga with warm sesame oil. Take naps. Set aside time to journal about what’s coming up for you. Watch something funny on Netflix. Dance a song out or just put one on and let your body move how it needs. Prioritize being over doing.

Find something new, some beauty, to bring into your life. Treat yourself to something you’ve been coveting, or try a new restaurant or experience, breathe some new life into your space, repaint, rearrange your furniture, Feng Shui, give something an upgrade, travel to a new spot or hike. Something as simple as driving home a different route and taking it in can aide in creating new neural pathways, buy a different bar of chocolate.

I also recommend that you take some conscious time away from your devices. Pick a day like Sunday or a few hours on the weekend. Whenever you can carve out some time to unplug and maybe push your comfort zone here a bit.

If you need additional support through a licensed therapist, seek it. If you have questions, concerns, reach out, you are not alone.

Be gentle with yourself. Let it be as easeful as possible. Hold space.

How to Care for a Shedding Human

“Humans shed regularly throughout their life to enable growth. Shedding usually takes as long as it fucking takes. Although this is a completely natural process, there are certain step that you can take to care for a shedding human. Make sure you foster a hospitable environment for the human by adding extra love and compassion. Remind human than any discomfort is normal and will lessen soon after change. If you notice any complications, such as fear and self sabotage, stand up for the human. Do not ignore human. Encourage and stand beside of human. Hold a sign. Light a candle. Cause a ruckus. Drag them into any sunlight available. Sing to them. Bring them unnecessary cookies. Hold their hand. Whisper good things in their ears. Kiss them a little. Tell them the story of your shedding. The beautiful and exquisitely painful ways you’ve changed too. Repeat forever.” - ATS

a nourishing infusion

TO RELAX THE NERVOUS SYSTEM + OPEN THE ENERGETIC HEART.

Skullcap

Passion Flower

Milky Oat Tops

Rose +

Hawthorne

Add about a heaping TSP of each herb to a mason jar and cover with hot water.

Secure the lid and steep overnight.

Strain in the morning and enjoy throughout the day.

You can find these at your favorite local herb shoppe or this is a great place to source

I also LOVE lemon balm sparking water. Add one to two dropperfuls of this tincture into your favorite grounding sparkling mineral water (mines Gerolsteiner).

I also take the tincture daily, especially great before bed and in general to assist with nervous system regulation.

EMBODIMENT

GET IN YOUR BODY

When doing work to bring awareness, release, or integrate, we need to get fully into our bodies. Check out the tools in The Root Toolbox as well as whatever practices help you get into your body; movement, dance, earthing, breath, etc.. Here is one of my favorite tools for finding safety in the body and grounding in so then we can unravel and release.

THROUGH BREATH

Try this embodiment breath at least once to see if there are places where your breath is restricted. We often cut our breath off from certain places in our body due to stress or trauma.

If you find places that are restricted then I recommend working with the safety exercise to open this place up and get some breath back in there. It can even be good before bed and you’ll find you sleep better.

When I first found this exercise I realized I was still very cut off from my solar plexus and throat due to trauma. The throat is one I’m still working to be consistent with but after using a few times it’s night and day with my solar plexus and I can connect in with my throat quicker. My voice almost always drops in to my body in a much more authentic embodied way after this exercise.

STAYING WITH YOURSELF

This also means staying with yourself when you are triggered or confronted. Call out the sensations you’re experiencing in your body, as with the naming exercise in a later module. “My heart’s beating faster, my body temperature is rising, etc..” Ask yourself if you’re really in danger. And then begin to ground through whatever way resonates with you. Take some deep breaths and calm the reaction in your body. This also creates a pause before reacting. If you need some grounding support, there are great tools in both Boundaries Support and No. 1 The Root as well as a short video here.

When you activate your gut feelings and listen to your heartbreak - when you follow the interoceptive pathways to your innermost recesses - things begin to change.
